"And there it stood, the world that is..."
The opening line from the Mythology of the Storytree.
Storytree was an incredible community and outreach program led by Ian Douglas, that I had the pleasure of being part of. It was and is a defining part of my life. Fresh out of university, I spent 3 years in Cumbria (UK) learning an ancient craft and connecting with communities through telling, sharing and animating stories old and new.
That is where my story of stories began.
Whether it is something innate or a thread from our past, I believe everyone has a deep connection to stories and storytelling, some people have just forgotten about it along the way - let's see if we can awaken it.
Read the next part out loud. To someone if you can. If not I've heard that house plants love a good story too.
Story's Story
And so it begins. Let's start at the beginning. Once upon a time. All was quiet. The sun was rising. It was a day like any other.
Story was out and about, tales up their sleeve, words on the tip of their tongue, myths sprouting from their ears. Story took a deep breath...
And so it begins.
Let's start at the beginning, before mobiles and earbuds.
Once upon a time, the people told stories long into the night.
All was quiet, intently listening, leaning into each others tales.
The sun was rising. Another day, another story waiting to be told.
It was a day like any other, or so the story goes.
Tell me a story. I'm always listening.
